
There are days when you have planned to do a lot of good things, and then the router is not working no matter how many times you reboot it and how nice you talk to it in an attempt to stay positive…and today is one of those days!
It is amazing how much it can drain our energy when we cannot do what we want to do…and we cannot control what will happen next…
The feeling can be very overwhelming, and some people even get very angry and stressed about it, often depending on how much they were planning to do…
It is not uncommon to become overwhelmed with negative feelings nowadays, as our lives are so fast, and we try to cram a lot of activities in the time we have…and yet it is possible to stay positive and see the bright side of the day…
The first things that came to my mind were:
- I cannot send any emails…
- I cannot promote my business…
- I cannot make catch-up calls because I would need to be able to use the internet…
- I cannot make updates on my business website…
Etc. etc. and the list went on…
And as I paused for a moment, I thought: well, there is absolutely nothing I can do, I cannot control the router, and I really cannot complete the tasks that I had planned, so what now? And that is when I realised I have a choice what I think about, and I can control my own thoughts, and so I started thinking the following instead:
- I can write a blog! I have not been able to find time to write one in the last two weeks, but now I can!
- I can take a breather and have a hot drink without feeling guilty!
- I can do some forward planning!
- I can just BE!
And as I started thinking these thoughts, my mood lifted almost immediately!
This is when I found once again how amazingly powerful my own mind is…, and how much it is in my control to change the way I feel…so as today was one of those days when I couldn’t do much on line, I thought I would share this experience and my learnings from it…to help you find what you can do when your internet is switched off…and I promise I will post it as soon as the internet is back on…
